Board Statement of Community Support
Dear Twin Cities Community,
Like all of you, we are horrified by yesterday's events in our city. The obviously illegal actions of ICE and other federal agents have now progressed from kidnapping to murder in our streets. While at times like these, our actions as artists and arts supporters can feel inadequate, it is often that at times like these, the arts are more necessary than ever.
To the Somali and other immigrant members of our community: you are welcome here and we stand with you.
To any trans members of our community: we see you and love you for who you are.
To our entire community: we are hurting with you, and we will do what we can to heal with you.
To ICE and other federal agencies: you are a disruptive, divisive, and destructive presence here in a community that does not need you and does not want you. You are not welcome and will not be allowed entry to any space operated by Arts' Nest without a valid warrant. While we recognize that this statement is largely symbolic, we will continue to look for practical actions we can take.
Please stay safe and continue to support each other out there. This too shall pass.
