A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Come on a magical journey of love and laughter in Shakespeare’s beloved play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Gender swapped casting gives a modern twist on the story so many of us know and love by creating same and different sex couples by giving a fresh take on this classic tale. Helena is a man who has fallen in love with another man who up until recently has only had eyes for him.
Hermia is a woman whose father forbids her to marry the man she loves, so she can marry Demetrius, the partner of his choosing. Lysander convinces Hermia to run away with him where they can marry each other in peace, and Helena tries to win back his Demetrius back by telling him of Hermia and Lysander’s flight into the woods.
Elsewhere in the city of Athens a group of blue collar workers tries to make their dream of performing a play before the Duke a reality. They too steal into the woods where all sorts of delightful chaos ensues when all of the mortals end up at the mercy of mischievous hob goblin and a feuding fairy couple.
